As you probably noticed, I am a Navy wife, and very proud of it! My husband is Rusty and we are currently stationed in Auburn, AL on recruiting duty. We have been married since March 2009 and we love almost every minute of it. We don't have any kids yet, but we are looking forward to having them in the future. When I'm not sewing or working, we spend our time at various sporting events. You can usually find us at Auburn football, basketball, or baseball games, plus the occasional Atlanta Braves games, depending on the season. I'm a smartass, a little bit lazy at times, and the most un-frilly, un-domesticated Navy wife you'll every meet.
Rusty gave me my sewing machine for my birthday in 2010 and everything has been downhill for him ever since. I spend almost every night sewing or at least reading other blogs about sewing. It is both a passion and a challenge for me. I love creating new things, and I especially love to create new things from vintage or re-purposed materials.
Many people ask me how I came up with the name "Peggy Ann Design". I encourage you to read my first post for more info, but here is the cliff notes version...
- Although I taught myself to sew, my grandmother (Peggy, aka Meemama) has always been the seamstress in my family. I go to her when I need a quick answer to any sewing question. I wanted to honor her and carry on her gift to my own children one day.
- When it comes to personality and style, I'm really more like my mama (Ann, aka Annman). Ok fine dammit, I am just like my mother. She's not exactly the housewife type either (she claims she can't sew at all), but she's the strongest woman I've ever known and she inspires me.
- Voila. Peggy (the part of me that sews) + Ann (the part of me that wants to watch football) = Peggy Ann Design
